Simple Woman's Day Book - July

Happy 4th of July!

FOR TODAY : July 4, 2011

Outside my window... it is dark and raining

I am thinking...about my son, who has just arrived in Kuwait, en route to Iraq, where he'll be spending the next year

I am thankful ... that my husband arrived home safely this afternoon, after driving 1500 miles in 2 days in Alex's car, which we'll be keeping while he is overseas

From the learning rooms.
..  we are on summer break for a couple more weeks

From the kitchen... Sarah made stir-fried veggies and chicken for supper, and chocolate chip-yogurt cookies :-)

I am creating...a high school transcript for my daughter

I am going... to TN next weekend, to move my oldest daughter there for her new adventure, interning with Safe World Nexus

I am reading...  Dumbing Us Down: The Hidden Curriculum of Compulsory Schooling , by John Taylor Gatto

I am hoping./ praying ... for safety and protection for my son, Alex, and all the American servicemen and women who are bravely serving and in harm's way

I am hearing...  the TV show NCIS, which my husband watches regularly

Around the house... the piles are growing out of control - school books, laundry, a few bags of Alex's belongings, boxes of Sarah's stuff waiting to move to TN, piles of Eric's stuff that he brought back from college, bins of Lighthouse sports equipment. ugh.

One of my favorite things... is watching my kids play sports.  My 12-yr-old made the town's Little League All-Star team, and will be playing in a tournament this week.

A few plans for the rest of the week:... helping with an Introduction to Homeschooling meeting on Thursday night

Here is a picture thought I am sharing..

Fun family time at the bowling alley!
